Ériu Woollen Yarn in the JW Anderson x Guinness Collaboration

We can hardly believe what we are announcing.

The incredible Irish designer JW Anderson has used Ériu Worsted Spun DK weight yarn in the shade Air to create the Shield Harp Unisex Jumper in the newest collaboration with Guinness.

For Ériu, this moment represents far more than a design collaboration. It is a celebration of Irish craft, heritage and the enduring story of wool in Ireland.

A Collection Rooted in Irish Culture

The JW Anderson x Guinness collaboration is a 17 piece collection rooted in the shared narrative of Irish craft and culture. Drawing inspiration from the traditional Irish pub, the collection reflects a place of warmth, storytelling and connection that has long been woven into the cultural fabric of Ireland.

Inspired by the intricacy of the Guinness brewing process, the brand’s archives, celebrated vintage advertising and the unmistakable atmosphere of the Irish pub, the collection arrives at a moment when global interest in Irish culture continues to grow. It champions the craft, creativity and heritage that unite both Irish brands. (as reported by Image.ie).

Workwear sits at the heart of the collection, with chore jackets and dungarees stamped with iconic motifs such as the Guinness harp. Blending personality with practicality, each piece nods to the brewery’s remarkable 267 year history while bringing that legacy into a modern wardrobe. (Rolling Stone UK).

The collaboration also revisits vintage advertisements and slogans, including the well known phrase “Live Life to the Power of Guinness” from the 1990s and a poem first printed in 1938. Together, these references form a collection that celebrates the enduring legacy of Guinness while reimagining it through contemporary design. (Rolling Stone UK).

The Shield Harp Jumper

At the centre of this announcement is  the Guinness Shield Harp Jumper, a unisex crew neck style featuring detailed neck finishing and classic knitwear craftsmanship.

The jumper is knitted in Ireland using our Ériu’s 100 percent Irish Worsted Spun DK weight wool yarn in the shade Air. Our yarn is created from fleece sourced from our own farm alongside a network of sustainable Irish farmers, supporting the revival of Ireland’s wool heritage through a true Farm to Yarn process.

Seeing this yarn transformed into a piece designed by JW Anderson and worn by Joe Alwyn is an incredibly special moment for our team and for the farmers and makers who are part of the Ériu story.

A Shared Vision of Craft

Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director and Founder of JW Anderson, reflected on the inspiration behind the collaboration:

“I’ve always been fascinated by the graphic language of Guinness. It’s so immediate, so culturally loaded, yet incredibly refined. For me, this collaboration felt like an opportunity to take that heritage and recontextualise it through the craft led lens that defines JW Anderson today.” — Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director and Founder of JW Anderson (Rolling Stone UK

Guinness Global Brand Director Stephen O’Kelly also shared his thoughts on the partnership:

“Jonathan’s vision for this collection beautifully translates Guinness’ enduring commitment to craft and quality into something tangible and exciting for our customers.” — Stephen O’Kelly, Guinness Global Brand Director (Rolling Stone UK)

This second collaboration stands as a testament to the enduring power of material, craft and heritage, inviting people to experience the rich legacy of Guinness through JW Anderson’s design vision. (as reported by Image.ie).

Reviving the Legacy of Irish Wool

For centuries, wool was one of Ireland’s most important natural resources. Yet in recent decades, much of the country’s fleece has been undervalued or exported without recognition of its true potential.

At Ériu, our mission is to help restore that legacy. By working directly with Irish farmers and producing yarn entirely from Irish wool, we are reconnecting the land, the fleece and the final garment through our Farm to Yarn approach.

Collaborations like this demonstrate that Irish wool belongs not only to tradition, but also to the future of design. Seeing our yarn used in a collection by JW Anderson shows that Irish wool can stand proudly on the global stage while remaining deeply rooted in the landscape and communities from which it comes.

We are incredibly grateful to Jonathan and the team at JW Anderson for choosing to work with our yarn and for championing Irish wool within such a globally recognised collaboration. Their commitment to craft, heritage and material integrity means a great deal to us and to the farmers and makers who form part of the Ériu story.
