Ériu was a Sovereignty Queen, a term ascribed to the Celtic Goddesses who wove harmony into their communities through their love of the Land and their relationships with their Kings whom they appointed to be Guardians of the people. We envision Ériu and her Sisters wearing this Sovereignty Shawl which is a perfect combination of elegance and practicality.

Its’ ethereal and fairy like essence creates a dreamy feel when worn slung softly over the shoulders. It’s a perfect accessory to an evening ball and yet it can also be worn bunched up and more scarf-like for a practical every day wear, or wrapped elegantly around the body after yoga or during meditation.

Lovingly handmade by Ann & Anne on their domestic knitting machines from home, they created a stitch we have named the Meadow stitch as it feels like roaming through a field of wildflowers, and yet has structured lines which pertain to the soil being tilled and elevate any outfit.

Made from our signature Ériu blend of 100% Irish wool yarn, reviving an ancient legacy though our fair-trade Farm to Yarn wool network across Ireland.

The Sovereignty Shawl

All of our accessories are made to work for everyone with minimalist designs. While our sets come in one size only, the garments gently stretch meaning that they mold to suit a broad range of shapes and sizes, whilst remaining comfortable and breathable and without losing their original shape. They are great for adding extra layers on a cold day or can be worn alone for coziness and style.

Our handknit accessory sets give you all 3 of our accessories for a better deal than purchasing them individually.

- Boxes: Made using recycled cardboard, printed with plant-based inks

- Courier Bags: Made from 100% biodegradable plastic

- Woven Labels: Made from R-PET recycled material from certified suppliers

- Postcards, Care Cards & Stickers: FSC certified and ECF, printed with plant-based inks

- Tissue Paper: FSC certified and is fully recyclable and compostable once shredded and kept in a composting environment

The natural antibacterial properties of pure wool mean your Ériu knitwear will require less frequent washing. Regular airing will restore freshness, and isolated stains can be spot cleaned with water and mild or organic soap, dabbing with a lint-free cloth.

Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water using a mild eco, wool-friendly detergent. Squeeze and move suds through the material without wringing or stretching the blanket. Rinse thoroughly in clean water.

Carefully remove from the water and press gently in between hands to squeeze out water. Do not wring the blanket! Finally, roll in a towel to remove further liquid.

Line dry for best results.

Do not tumble dry!
