At Ériu, everything we do is connected to the land —

to the farmers we honour,
to the sheep we love.
Our rhythm and reason revolve around our precious natural resources, and around reviving the ancient Irish tradition of working with wool.
The Celtic festivals of Ireland were a time when people celebrated their connection to the land and honoured the season's gifts. We follow this wheel as a family and in our business, and we'd like to extend it to our community — the Ériu Family — by aligning our Knit-alongs with the quarterly Celtic festivals, sometimes with a cross-quarter thrown in.

Samhain KAL
Our Samhain KAL honours the turn inward. For wool-lovers like us, this is our favourite time of year: as the leaves turn gold on our farm, we welcome the colder, crisper weather — and the chance to wear more wool. It's the perfect season to wrap yourself in warmth, and we couldn't think of a better pattern than our Tree of Life Mittens.
Pair them with our FIRE palette — Crow, Ashes, Ceremony and Brigid's Flame — these colours were designed around Ireland's ancient Celtic Fire rituals, still held today.
Samhain marks the moment when the veil thins and the Otherworld draws near, a passage that originated in Ireland and is now known worldwide as Halloween. Our mittens make the perfect accessory for your costume, or simply for the season!
Your Knit-along guide
My name is Frederique
I’m an enthusiastic knitter, spinner and all-round wool lover. Next to my career as a linguist and teacher, I have been active in the wonderful world of wool in Ireland since 2018.
Initially, I worked predominantly with merino wool, but I soon started to investigate the possibilities of local wool and fibre instead,
and that is how I came across Ériu.
Since knitting my first vest in their Rosebud woollen spun yarn, a cable knit sweater in the colour Bluebell followed, a multi-coloured shawl in the Kingfisher palette, my love for Ériu’s yarns has only grown.
I have since worked with Ériu in developing a collection of gorgeous knitting patterns.
Ériu wool is home grown, soft, it is created with a passion and a vision that I love and that I’m happy to share with the wider community.
