We named our first woven collection Tara, after Ireland’s sacred site on the Hill of Tara. Known as a “Royal Site,” this is an ancient piece of land where the High Kings of Ireland were coronated, and chosen, by their beloved Sovereignty Queens, who were trusted by the community, to choose the rightful King. For their grand ceremonies they would have worn beautiful woven cloaks made of wool, harvested from the sheep on the land, woven by their local artisans, in the exact same way as our Farm to Yarn practice.
Our design, features a stunning diamond weave. The diamond is an important symbol to our ancestors, and is carved into many megalithic structures around Ireland.
This weave, alongside the use of borders and fringing exudes a luxury and richness which echoes of the rich illuminated manuscripts which describe our Celtic history of Gods, Goddesses, King, Queens and their communities. We love how in Ireland, our myths and history merge into one, interwoven with brave adventures, magical events and always, a reverence for the land.
We worked with iconic weavers, Molloy & Sons, a 6th generation weaver based in Ardara, Co. Donegal, who’s attention to detail and inheritance of ancestral skills, combined with modern technology, ensure a garment that is incredibly unique. They enhanced the quality of our 100% Irish yarn to produce an incredibly soft and luxurious weave.
